My neighbor prepares this stuffed chilli bajjis often and Iam giving her recipe here. There are many varieties of mild chillies with which u can make these bajjis. I used this type and they were very mild.
This is my entry to the' JFI chillies ' created by Indira of Mahanandi and hosted by Nandita of saffrontrail.
Ingredients
Long green chillies- 6
Salt- little
oil for deep frying
For stuffing
Potatoes- 2 medium ,cooked and mashed
Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves- a few chopped finely
Turmeric powder- less than 1/4 tsp
Ginger grated- 1/2 tsp
For the batter
Besan/gram Flour - 1 cup
Rice Flour-2 tsp
salt to taste
chilli powder- 1/4 tsp
water to make a thick paste
Method
Wash the chillies ,make a slit in the center and remove all the seeds. Rub little salt inside the chillies. The chillies I used were very long and so I had to cut them into two.
Mix all the ingredients for stuffing and then stuff the chillies with it.
Mix all the ingredients for the batter( U can use Sakthi masala's bajji bonda mix too) .
Dip the stuffed chillies into the batter and deep fry in hot oil.
Serve hot with ketchep.

ReplyDeleteHi Prema,
ReplyDeleteThis bajji is a different one.. shud try.. thnx for sharing..
I've fancied trying these ever since I had some in an indian restaurant a few years back, but never found decent-sized chillies.
ReplyDeleteHowever my local asian grocer had some wonderful huge fresh ones this morning, so I grabbed a bagful of them and had a go. Here's my end result, not quite as delicious looking batter as yours, but tasted the biz. Recipe came from Mamta's kitchen, as I hadn't spotted your site.
I love the hugeness of those chillies, so left them whole!
How did you get the batter so consistent? Mine ended up rather blotchy, is the rice flour the key?
